Interactivity in Scientific Figures Is a Key Tool for Data Exploration and the Scientific Process
Last summer we launched our interactive figures initiative with plotly. Since then, we have published 22 interactives figures in seven articles across two platforms. In this post authors describe their figures and share why they wanted to make them interactive.
Reproducible research includes sharing data and code. The reproducibility policy at the journal Biostatistics rewards articles with badges for data and code sharing. This study investigates the effect of badges at increasing reproducible research, specifically, data and code sharing, at Biostatistics.
When Evaluating Research, Different Metrics Tell Us Different Things
Metrics from different sources are compared in two studies published as preprints. The research indicated that altmetrics, as currently framed, are significantly weaker indicators of research quality - as measured by expert peers’ assessments - than traditional metrics.
A tool was produced that identifies all completed trials from clinicaltrials.gov, searches for results in the clinicaltrials.gov registry and on PubMed, and presents summary statistics for each sponsor online. Since Jan 2006, trial sponsors included in our dataset have completed 25,927 eligible trials, of which 11,714 (45.2%) have failed to make results available.
